Key Concepts

In history, historians use change by looking at events in history and seeing how these events have changed the different societies of that time, whether a change in societal values, government, or how the people lived their lives. Continuity involves historians studying the things that stayed the same after historical events. Historians find the Cause when they look at what made the historical event occur in the first place. Consequence is what affects the historical events have on the society in the time period they are studying, for example, if people became impoverished, or lost their homes, or had to fight in a war. Historians find the Significance of historical events to see the importance of each event in history, and how it may have an effect in the future. Perspective is important because it allows historians to see how the events in history and the effects of these events can change based on different perspectives of the people living in that time period.
